Why is my ollie so low

So your gonna want to jump forward just a little bit. Keep practicing! Keep trying. Skateboarding is all about experimenting with new ideas and finding out what works. Keep tweaking your results until you get what you want. Watch as many trick tip videos as you can, get advice from good skaters, and remember to enjoy yourself. Just try to learn at your house before going to the skatepark.

Good luck! Sorry had to repost because the last post had a error in it. Same but im not an girl but this guy put me out of my missery of not being able to ollie watch this guy he will teach you all that you need to know. I tried to do an Ollie for the whole summer of The thing that was preventing me from doing it was rushing it.

Im a girl too. Guys wont bring you down unless you make a big deal out of being a girl at a skatepark. Go to a skatepark, skate until you want to stop, rock it, and stay confident. Keep practicing, and, when u are better than them, you can show them! Dude to be a skateboarder you have to have a strong mind. It takes willpower to keep getting up and trying your tricks over and over until you get it. If your biggest problem is people bringing you down then you have another thing coming.

And if it bothers you that much skate alone I usually skate alone anyway at a tennis court near my house. The thing you gotta do is not give up.

Just ignore them. Dudes are stupid. Practice at home, by yourself, and learn some awesome stuff. So when you get really good, you can go to the park and if they start saying bad stuff, show off. It always made me feel really good to show them that I was better than them right after they teased me for it. I just can get any height on my ollie at all! I know im kind of waffling on a bit, but i just can get the board to get any height! Please help if you can! Put your foot on the tail n practice sliding with another foot until u memorize it.

Everything should be fine.. Do your Ollie, then, instantly after you pop your board, lift your back foot up to meet your front foot. That helped me solo much I improved twice in a few tries with using that trick. If you practice a ly every day, you experiment, you will find u r solution. My problem is the board turns when i ollie, i cant help it, i am starting to go into harder ground ollying off ledges and ollying stairs but i cant land and ride away because my board has turned in a 45 degree angle and it jerks me off the board, Please help in all you can, cheers mate.

Turning your shoulders is what seems to be the problem. Try keeping your shoulders parallel with your skateboard when you Ollie. Seems good but my skateboard always turns to the right when im in the air, while my feet and shoulders are parallel with my board and straight.

Make sure that you slide your foot straight towards the front of the board. Not to the side. That may be your problem, or your shoulders.

The article says to jump up so I do it physically and sometimes it seems to help. They just seem to be popping the board. So should I physically jump? To get good height on your Ollies you have to jump. You bend your knees, pop your board, and then jump. Your back foot simply pops the board and catches it at the peak of the Ollie. You know this. Stick with it, keep practicing.

I found that my problem was unclear instruction about the timing between jumping and popping. One day when I was watching a slowmo ollie video though, I noticed that the skateboarder already was beginning to jump at least his body was already going in an upward motion before snapping the board off the ground.

That was a critical change I needed to make in order to get it working. I had been trying to pop the board while all my weight was still pushing down on it kind of an obvious mistake, but I somehow overlooked this. Hope this helps somebody. It was great help!! I stopped skating when I was about 15, never any good at it, never mastered the Olle, my skill lv was basically dropping in the ramp and turning on the other side.

And I did not haw anyone else to skate with, I was living an hour from town and was too afraid to go skate with the older guys. It took me at least 6 months to learn to cruise the city properly, pushing and braking at high speed. Its the rugged town of Bergen in Norway and it rains like days a year or something, no joke.

I had no intention to learn to skate again, and I think that is what kept me going. My right hand, knee or my hip was constantly bleeding for about 8 months. I learned the Olle a year ago and can jump down small stars and bigger ledges. I just need to stop when Im exhausted so I dont destroy what iw lerned.

My problem at the beginning, was my shoulders like so many other people are saying, so instead of turning my head right and looking at the ledge I was going to jump, I started looking more down to the ground, I noticed even when I did my best to keep my shoulders parallel with the board, they would still turn a bit if I moved my head. And the other thing was that my backfoot needed to be centered at the tale, at the beginning I planted it like I was going to do a , and of course the board will turn.

I tried a heal flip half a year ago and nailed it in 3 of 20 tries. Not many of the kids these days haw seen it, I just tell them to turn on an 80s skate video. Last year my goal was to be able to ride around town and braking big hills without looking stupid. If you hit the asphalt and starts to bleed, who cares get over it. Earlier today, I was downtown, and they were rigging up some music equipment for a show tonight.

Firstly, you should be very comfortable with your ollies while moving. So, when you ollie while moving do not even think that you are moving, just ollie like you did on flat, jump with the board, and try to lean a little forward, the way you are moving.

The last thing you need to do is keep your balance when you land it, but all of this needs practice, remember that, it took me 6 months to learn my ollies while moving but since then, i could learn every trick while moving pretty easily. David Gonzales. First get comfortable riding practice from around 30 min to an hour then try it. When ollieing you have to have good timing but keep practicing you will get it.

Javier Obele. You only anticipate to the brick and push down the tail when you ear the pop pull the front foot and jump remmember if the front foot is more back more high us your ollie more to the front the ollie is down lets practice to me just 3 weeks and my ollie was more high lucky and more skate for the life.

Just practice i had the same problem just find the day you are so motivated to just do it and try it then. Jacob Bentley. Then, start by ollie-ing over a stick, and then work your way to the brick.

Hope this helps! So ehen you go for it just pop and jump thats what helped me doing it and if you think its to late just ollie when the front truck is 1 second away and just get some speed and ollie but bend youre kneees i hope that helped. Taysir Blanco.

Be sure you're looking at the object and not your board, you can glance down beforehand and make sure your feet are in the right position, but you have to get used to just feeling when it's wrong and right. The only way to time it correctly is to keep your eye on the obstacle.

Hope I helped even though this was posted forever ago! Will Dodson. Don't try and think about it. If you hesitate, you're not going to go, or you're going to go late. Don't be afraid. You'll get more comfortable with the trick. Vlad Danila. Jaywaun Johnson. You will have to ollie before the brick and the speed will take you over the brick.

But you wanna bend down and make sure you pop straight down. Once you do that, suck your legs up to your chest and the board should follow. While landing, make sure to bend your legs to brace impact. And roll away clean. Ali Hakeem. Practice to make a pop long will moving wen you do a pop do a slide do it again and again and again you will learn how to do it fast will moving.

For ollieing over the obstacle, you can think of it as jumping over the obstacle; your body has to be over the obstacle and commit. Make sure that you start from a crack and gradually increase the size of the obstacle and speed accordingly.

Try ollieing over a crack while filming it and see what you're doing wrong and remember skating is about committing. Stuart Orlando. Try keeping your weight more centered and try popping the tail about when the nose is 6 inches from the brick. Start to do a olie on a very slow speed almost standing still then just build your self up by going little bit faster at a time. Bram Doornbos. Keep tryin to jump on objects and stuff like that. Timing is very important. I can't help you by going over something because I am still trying to get that down, but, about the moving I can help because that used to be my problem also and what I did was when I popped the board, I popped it behind me so I could say on top of the board and so the board won't go flying in front of you and then with the foot sliding thing I did the same as when I was still.

I hope that works for you. I can only help with the moving problem so just like I did I also had the problem just Ollie while standing still then push once slowly then Ollie and increase the speed every time. Get some speed start slow and pop right before your nose gets to the object. When flicking, flick up and when you start coming down push your front foot down where you want it to land. Make sure to tuck your foot into the concave after leveling your board.

Just go really slowly and practice doing it. If u can do it at that speed then go faster and faster little by little. Jake Turner.

Hey I've been doing Ollie's for a while now and my best advice to give you would snap your tail right before your front truck is about at the brick and let your front truck go over it. But try to Ollie something smaller first like a broomstick or a hose, best of luck to you! I say don't try to ollie over anything until you start rolling you should go slow while ollie. Practise and practise, dont be scared i landed my first ollie while moving 2 days ago. If you fail, you wont even fall down. Well when I was learning the Ollie my timing was really off and my body would kinda freeze up before the Ollie. What helped me a lot was lots of practice and looking at the middle of my board it helps me concentrate. If you want to start to learn how to Ollie on the move you have to be perfectly comfortable when riding your board and don't rush this you want to be so comfortable its like second nature and ones you have done that, have full pads if you have them and when moving at a nice speed and slightly lean forward and get the most pop you can and you would automatically land but before you Ollie over something get a friend or record yourself and see if you cleared a crack and just keep progressing.

Joseph Marmon. Trying over distances use lines in a parking lot like the corners or the wheel chair man or shadows and height try one line moving slower and still getting over it. Tyler Hallett. Raul Angeles. Just think of it like, your jumping the brick without a board and right when you about to jump Ollie it. There are some great tips here, one thing I would keep in mind, something that was an issue for me is to keep your shoulders square and slide your foot straight to keep your board from turning.

Also snap down on your tail FAST too keep your board from losing momentum and sliding it in the ground. Jake Frake. Ollies while moving are surprisingly harder than while standing still.

Don't try doing over anything yet, just go slow and try and get the board off the ground. Once you feel more comfortable ollieing while moving, then try it over stuff.

Once you're comfortable with rolling ollieing, then try it over cracks and then eventually over anything really.

Don't go to slow or when you pop the board will come out from under you. Start out by not going that fast on the board and doing the Ollie, then get a little bit faster and do the Ollie again. Keep on doing that until u get comfortable with it. Get some speed it will help and make sure u time it up and make sure you front wheels get Above the brick first. It can be tough! So what do you do? The biggest thing with ollie problems is to stick with it. Don't give up! It can take a long time to learn how to ollie. I myself didn't really learn how to ollie until I had been skating for around a year! And I've talked to many skaters who took even longer.

So, if you're comparing yourself to a friend who learned in one day, well, cut it out! It can take a while - learning to ollie is tricky, and some people will get it quickly, while some of us will need to work harder. But everyone can learn how to ollie - so stick with it! Next, it depends on what's wrong.
