Indonesia is revered as the home of perfect warm-water barrels. A distant swell-pumping machine, Antarctic storms generate almost non-stop corduroy lines out of the south Indian Ocean from March to October, they quietly travel for thousands of miles before striking the pristine beaches of Bali and Nusa Lembongan. Yet with the incredible knowledge of our local guides, empty perfect waves are still very attainable. We time our visit to take advantage of the best tides for uncrowded morning and evening sessions.
We also head north and south to offer off the grid waves. To add to the adventure, we get boats from the shore out to the waves each day. On the Bukit Peninsular our daily itinerary is flexible so we can make the most of varying swells and wind forecasts. Our two-week trip takes place in three separate locations; two different areas in Bali and the beautiful neighbouring island of Nusa Lembongan — the infinity pool at our accommodation here is complete heaven.
We stay in three separate locations during the trip, which are all of a similar standard with rooms that are a mix of twins and triples. Why not take full advantage of your trip to Indonesia and stay with us for 1, 2, 3 or 4 incredible weeks of bodyboarding in Bali as we have trips that run consecutively. A tropical climate with lovely sunny weather every day with the odd evening downpour depending on how quickly the seasons are changing from wet season to dry.
We choose this time of the year, as the weather is continually fantastic, with incredible sunrises, sunsets and time to re-charge with a drink on a sun lounger during the afternoons.
Consistent water temperatures of 28 degrees. Then there are more challenging reefs for the advanced rider. We split the group by abilities to cater for all levels of bodyboarding experience.
A great mix of waves for all abilities. Whatever your level, our coaching team is on hand to offer daily guiding and tuition should you want it. This is tailored to your ability, with instructors who are in-house qualified and fully insured, and includes beach, water and classroom-based tuition. Our team comprises experienced lifeguards, some of whom have 20 years of surfing and worldwide travel behind them, all trained by multiple-times British National Champion and Team Coach Rob Barber. Our instructors are on hand with groups in the water, able to give extra tips on the beach, and give detailed feedback during our informal classroom analysis.
There is good reason why there are so many amazing bodyboarders making an annual pilgrimage to Indonesia. The waves lend themselves to high level bodyboarding and we can help you perfect specific moves from carving reverse spins to airs.
Ben Player would regularly use Uluwatu, Padang Padang and Canngu as his pre-season training ground when he competed on the world tour, and for good reason too.
The variety of the waves in this area is huge and as a result we can focus on every aspect of your riding. Or put more of a focus on guiding you to the best waves each day and letting you enjoy them while being videoed by our team.
Photography and video analysis will be available throughout all sessions to help improve your riding. There is simply no better way to see your riding sky rocket than to benefit from slow-motion analysis of your biggest moves. You need to make your own travel arrangements to Denpasar International Airport, Bali.
Those flying from the UK, we suggest calling our bodyboarder friendly flight specialist Lee at Dial a Flight on We then arrange airport pick ups for those arriving on the first day of the trip. Many of our guests choose to arrive a day early in order to get over jet lag and acclimatise. We have our welcome meeting at 4pm on the first day of the trip so please be sure to arrive in good time for it.
You can pay in full at time of booking or you can split the payment into two or three instalments. The dates of these instalments can be agreed at time of booking. Bali is known as the island of the Gods for good reason, perfect weather, great food, rich culture and of course, awesome bodyboarding waves.
With forested volcanic mountains, iconic rice paddies, pristine beaches and coral reefs the beauty is breath taking. The island is home to a rich culture with a plethora of religious sites dotting the countryside, such as the magnificent cliffside Uluwatu Temple. Bali also forms part of the Coral Triangle , an area with the highest biodiversity of marine species in the world. In this area alone, over reef-building coral species can be found — seven times as many as in the entire Caribbean!
Home to some of the finest bodyboarding waves on the planet, the islands of Indonesia have naturally become a popular destination for travelling boogers, but with a little adventurous spirit and local knowledge, uncrowded wave perfection is still very attainable.
The more advanced notice the better please. The warm waters and heavy waves of Indonesia make many boards turn to jelly. Therefore, we recommend boards with a PP or low-density PP core. Also look for warm water waxes. Taking a spare pair of fins is advised if you have room in your luggage.
A decent board bag will keep your kit safely protected throughout your journey, especially when you consider the brutality of some baggage handlers.
The humble board sock is an awesome piece of kit for travelling or home use. Fin slippers and socks prevent rub on the foot and Achilles heel, and also save you from needing to wear full-length fin socks. Absolutely worth picking some up. They make fins comfortable, stop chafe and have different thickness levels to suit the snugness of your fin. Finserts are in our opinion the ultimate foot protection from fin rub!
Definitely have a look at buying a pair. There are a range of sun creams geared specifically for bodyboarding abroad. Maximise your surf time by keeping the sun off your head. Trust us, it will make your trip much more enjoyable. You will be sleeping in fairly close proximity to others in traditional buildings, and noise travels through this jungle area.

Travelers love us, and the feeling is mutual Over k travelers like you have chosen Tripaneer so far. The Bukit peninsula in Bali, from Uluwatu to Dreamland thru Padang Padang a many other waves is a perfect example of it. While we can still remember videos of Pierre-Louis Costes ripping in Bali, on waves such as Padang Padang, nowadays, the crowds and the level at the lineup make it hard for the average surfer to catch a good wave and enjoy his time on the Bukit.
This is one of my top 10 surfing destination for sure. Finger crossed for a big swell. Our aim not being to reveal the exact locations of the best waves in Indo, we leave you the responsibility to find your next destination on the archipelago, depending on your time, your goals and knowing that the tourism offer goes from the most luxurious resorts to the most basic homestays.
PP is mandatory , mesh would be plus. Therefore, you can afford to use really stiff swimfins and increase your paddle power.
